This tutorial shows you how to Clone a Competition. You can clone any previously created Competition or Competition with Contests, whatever it’s status (Started, Finished, Cancelled).

You can read our step-by-step guide, or our watch a video tutorial on Competition Cloning.

VIDEO TUTORIAL

Explanatory subtitles are added to the video.

Please note that the video provided might not correspond visually 100 % with the current interface, as we are constantly improving and introducing new features. However, the video will provide all the information needed for the explanation.

Step 1: Navigation

In your CompetitionLabs space, navigate to Competitions → + New Competition. Here you will see a list of already created Competitions.

The list shows pre-created Competitions by Label, ID, Status, Products used in the Competition, and Members that can participate.

Cloning is easy – just press the Clone () button to clone a selected competition.

Three things are not cloned in the Competition cloning process:

  1. The Status of the Competition – When you clone a Competition, it will be in Ready state.
  2. The Start and End dates of the Competition – You need to select a new Start and End time and date for the Competition.
  3. The Competition ID, as a unique identifier of a particular Competition. Cloning will create a new ID for the cloned Competition.

Step 2.1: Cloning the Competition

The cloning process copies all the information from the pre-created Competition, so all the competition text boxes are populated.

As noted before, only a new date and time need to be selected for the cloned Competition. If you are satisfied with the cloned competition, press the Next button until you reach the final confirmation screen, and press the Finish button to complete the cloning process.

You can always edit a cloned Competition’s information if necessary. No restrictions are added. Remember that any edits are also represented in the pre-created contests.

For example, if in a cloned Competition a new Product is selected or an old one is removed, it may change the pre-created Rules of the Contest.

Step 2.2: Cloning the Contest

When you complete the Competition cloning, the process automatically redirects you to the Contest cloning (if the Competition has Contests). If a Competition had multiple Contests, each Contest will need to be Created and Finished before cloning the next Contest.

You can always edit the cloned Contest information if necessary. No restrictions are added. Remember that any edits made in the Competition cloning are not automatically represented in the cloned Contests, so manual edits may be needed. Cloning only represents the pre-created Competition and Contests information.

For example, if a new product was added in the Competition and you want it to be added in the Contest Rules, you need to add it.

When all the Contests are finished cloning, cloning is completed.

Congratulations! You have mastered the Cloning function.
